# The night rushes swiftly onward toward the flower garden of machines
It leaves its spirit with you, as your lives call out to one another
From atop the building I invite you, Gemini,
holding up, lofty and remote, the memories of days that used to be
The girl shining in the light sings a song for the moonlit night (2)
Its spirit sharpens her sword and releases the mermaid’s secret
At the bus station I invite you, Gemini, (3)
holding up, lofty and remote, the memories of days that used to be
※ Morning arrives and becomes tomorrow The sounds of life subside (4)
Night arrives and again, alone, it melts into you and comes alive
Taking on a nurse’s form, she plays the flute of life (5)
Glistening in the rain of celestial maidens, clouds of science drift on by
Deep in the alleyway I invite you, Gemini,
holding up, lofty and remote, the memories of days that used to be

Notes:
(1) If you’ve ever wondered why you can hear someone counting “3, 2, 1…” at the beginning of this song, it’s probably because Project Gemini was the name of the second human spaceflight program of NASA. The Gemini flights were all launched using a launch vehicle called the Titan II GLV (Gemini Launch Vehicle) or Gemini-Titan.
There is also the constellation Gemini, of course, and in Chinese astronomy, some of the stars that correspond to Gemini are located in the White Tiger (Byakko) of the West area.
In addition, the Gemini twins from Greek and Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux, were the patron gods of sailors, and took the form of St. Elmo’s Fire (which appears in “Ishi no Niwa”).
(2) Perhaps a reference to “Tsuki no Kage”.
(3) Perhaps a reference to the bus in “Denkouyoku”.
(4) The phrase inochi no oto (“sound(s) of life”) is also used in “Kaze no Bunshin”.
(5) “[Tennyo] are usually pictured as unnaturally beautiful women dressed in ornate, colorful kimonos (traditionally in five colors), exquisite jewelry, and flowing scarves that wrap loosely around their bodies. They often carry lotus blossoms as a symbol of enlightenment and play musical instruments such as the biwa or flute.”
