My name is Ēmakkan (エーマッカン). I am a master of Burmese alchemy.I am already leaving this world, but to date, everything is going according to my plan.It’s something related to the transformation of the world. And yet…
When this century began, the earth underwent Albedo, just as it has countless times before.Albedo is a concept used by alchemists that refers to a stage in an object or event’s birth/death cycle.This century’s Albedo was set into motion by the “Light of Science”. During this Albedo, all of creation moved toward its white glow.Night, darkness, death, shadow, chaos — these things were loathed as evil and eliminated by it…and so the alchemists of the East and West who sought the unification of all matter antithetical to this Albedo disappeared as well.
One day in June of 2000, a man triggered a Minor Rotation in Bagan, an area located in the Mandalay Region of Burma. (1)A Minor Rotation is small-scale alchemical phenomenon that can occur locally.The Rotation — a term that refers to the endlessly repeating process of birth and death — created a cycle consisting of time as it currently exists in the Bagan area and another time that flows in parallel to it.
These two times flowing in parallel to one another infuse a single event with different antithetical significance.As a result of the exact same historical event, a person considered a “traitorous sinner” in one time is a “loyal saint” in the other…and both are true.
This newly flowing time, or time stream, reflects another dimension of reality that was consigned to oblivion by this century’s Albedo.That man used two ceramic blocks to start the “PAGODA1574 (A)”, a device designed to generate this new time stream indefinitely.
Through the process of Conjunctio (conjunction), this parallel time produced by the Rotation will metamorphose into a time that carves out a single reality with two dimensions. (2)
Now the world has begun to resonate with the time stream produced by the Minor Rotation.The world’s other dimensions of reality, consigned to oblivion by this century’s Albedo, have come together in a massive time stream and are rushing toward Bagan. Conjunctio has begun.Now, upon turning the Philosopher’s Propeller and performing a Mid-Rotation once more, the Great Rotation that I have eagerly awaited will finally arrive. At that point, the world will complete this century’s Albedo.
But there’s been some unexpected trouble…The Unknowable Walls that surround Bagan on all sides are obstructing the time streams that have come surging in from all over the world. This is an extremely dangerous situation. These time streams that were regarded as evil and rejected may become dammed up and grow to an enormous size, engulfing the world in a great mass of death, destruction, and darkness. You must break down the walls, allow the time streams to enter Bagan, and complete Conjunctio.
There isn’t much time left. My friends, will you not lend me your strength? You must make that man go to Bagan and finish the Magnum Opus…

(1) At the beginning of the live show, you learn that the man who triggered the Minor Rotation is the Gardener King.
(2) From a summary of the Rosarium Philosophorum:
“The combination of substances and the union of opposites is another key element in the alchemical process. This is often represented as a mystical marriage of the lunar element representing the feminine, and the solar element, the male. These two opposing elements meet and are joined in what is known as the ‘chemical wedding’. This union creates something bigger and more powerful than the individual parts - the perfect integration of male and female energies - the hermaphrodite.
